Associate Commissioner: Jamison P. Roth

Jamison Roth has held the role of Associate Commissioner of College Hockey East since 2011, though he has been deeply connected with the league from the time he began playing at California University of PA (now PennWest California) in 2002.  In his time as Associate Commissioner, Roth has been a major contributor to the expansion of the College Hockey East men's divisions and the creation of the College Hockey East Women's Division.  He has also served as the General Manager of the CHE Select Team, which is comprised of the league's top players to compete in an all-star festival against other collegiate club leagues.

As a player at California, Roth's largest contribution was seen off the ice, where he was the catalyst to the rise of the Vulcans program by guiding a team that was on the brink of extinction and transforming it into a National Champion.  But his feats on the ice were also quite remarkable, placing Roth as one of the most accomplished players in CHE history.  He was annually one of the top scorers in the CHE, posting an astonishing 49 goals his senior season and exiting as the Vulcans' all-time leader in games, goals, assists, points, power play goals, shorthanded goals, and game-winning goals.  He was picked to the CHE All-Star Game five times and was the event's MVP in 2006.  Roth also collected two Kaleina Cup Championships and two CHE League Titles in his final two seasons as a player, with the first of each of those also being firsts in team history.

His accolades in the CHE extended off the ice during those years, as well, winning the league's GM of the Year Award in 2004 and Student-Athlete of the Year Award in 2007.  Roth's lengthy resume as a student-athlete was so impressive that College Hockey East named the Student-Athlete of the Year Award in his honor at the time.  In addition to playing hockey at California and leading the program as its Club President, he contributed to the CHE as a member of its Board of Directors.  Away from his studies, Roth still found time to serve as a volunteer firefighter for the borough of California, as an EMT for the local ambulance service, as a dispatcher for a nearby police department, and as the president of the Theta Xi fraternity.

After earning his undergraduate graduate degree from California in 2007, Roth remained with the University as the Director of Sports Clubs and the General Manager of its hockey program.  His vision for the school's hockey team became a reality the very next season, when the Vulcans won the ACHA Men's Division 3 National Championship in 2008.  He also oversaw the formation of  a second men's team and then the creation of a women's team at California, both of whom went on to earn league championships in the CHE.

Roth took on a new venture in conjunction with the California program when the team's home rink -- the Rostraver Ice Garden -- was named as "Hockeyville USA" in 2017.  Roth spearheaded the local efforts for community events, a Pittsburgh Penguins practice at the Ice Garden, and an NHL preseason game between the Penguins and Blues.  Roth then led the establishment of the non-profit Mon Ice Project, a group that continues Hockeyville's grassroots efforts to grow the game in the communities surrounding the Ice Garden.

Roth was born and raised in Erie, PA, where he starred on the hockey team at McDowell High School.  He married his wife Ashley in the summer of 2013, and the couple resides in the borough of California with their sons Carter and Lincoln, along with their dog Piper.  He remains an EMT with the Brownsville Ambulance Service and a firefighter for the California Volunteer Fire Department.  Roth is a Penguins season ticket holder but remains loyal to the Buffalo Bills in football.
