2004-05 All-Star Game

Date: Sunday, March 13, 2005
Location: Island Sports Center, Neville Township, PA
Teams: CHE North (Champions) vs. CHE South (Challengers)
Winner: CHE South
Final Score: South 12 d. North 5
MVP: South, BJ DePaoli (#7, California of PA-I)

The South handily defeated the North 12-5 in the 2004-2005 All Star Game, held at RMU Island Sports Center.  BJ DePaoli(California High School) of California, PA earned game MVP honors with his three goals and four assists.  This was the 5 All Star Game for College Hockey East and the South leads the series 3-2.

The South jumped out to an early 3-0 after one period.  Depauli scored the first two goals with assists from Jamison Roth of California (Erie McDowell) and Saint Vincent’s Matt Ward (Greensburg Central Catholic).  Saint Vincent Andrew Modecki (Latrobe) stopped all six shots he faced.  Depauli capped off the hat trick five minutes into the second period, with another assist from Matt Ward.

The North tried to keep the game close in the second period.  Penn State Altoona’s Brad Bruckner (Penn Hills) and Chris Owens (Hempfield) each had a goal and an assist in the second period.  Penn State Behrend goalie Jon Stull stopped 20 of the 22 shots he faced, but it was not enough to keep the game close.

The game was enjoyed by all players, coaches, and fans in attendance.  Hall of Famer and former Pittsburgh Penguin Joe Mullen was in attendance to drop the first puck and give the players a word of encouragement.  During the second intermission a touching memorial ceremony was held for former Edinboro and Allegheny Head Coach Kevin DuMond.  DuMond was tragically killed in an automobile accident this past November.
