2011-12 All-Star Game

Date: Saturday, January 7, 2011
Location: RMU Island Sports Center; Pittsburgh, PA
Time: 6:30 PM
Teams: CHE Red Team vs. CHE Black Team
Admission: $7.00-Adults; Kids under 12-Free!

The 2012 CHE/CHA All-Star Game is scheduled for Saturday, January 7, 2012, at the RMU Island Sports Center at 6:30 PM.

Some new changes to this year’s format include the representation of CHA teams to the lineup.  Historically the All-Star Game has been reserved for CHE member teams; however, given the nature of this year’s competition it was determined that both leagues were needed.  Also for the first time, this year’s All-Star Game will not include a skills competition due to the importance of the game.  This year’s game will serve as a tryout where players will vie for a spot on the CHE/CHA Challenge team.  This Challenge team will compete against other leagues’ teams from around the nation at the ACHA All-Star Challenge Weekend being held in West Chester, PA March 30 through April 1.  Players will be selected from the Challenge Weekend, forming a team that will travel to Europe over the semester break during the 2012-2013 season.

Prior to this season beginning the CHE’s Board of Directors and League Executives determined the coaching staff that will represent the CHE/CHA at the ACHA All-Star Challenge.  Robert Morris University’s Craig Bioni was named the Head Coach and the University of Pittsburgh-Johnstown’s Dave Layman and University of Pittsburgh-Greensburg’s Tim Baldwin were named Assistant Coaches.  As a result Dave (CHE Red) and Tim (CHE Black) will be the Head Coaches for this year’s CHE/CHA All-Star Game.  For a second year, the All-Star teams were drafted by Dave and Tim from a list of nominees.

Congratulations to the players below who have been selected to participate in the 2012 CHE/CHA All-Star Game.
