This post is to inform everyone of the ACHA Division-III All Star Challenge to be held in West Chester, PA, March 26-28, 2010. The purpose of the event is for evaluators to judge the talent at the Division-III level and to begin selections for the ACHA Select Team traveling to Europe in the Winter of 2010. We are proud to announce that CHE along with schools from the CHA, will field a team to compete in the eight team tournament in March. CHE Commissioner Chuck Kuzniewski and the ACHA D-III Atlantic Regional Coordinator, Scott Solomon have appointed Jamison Roth and Justin Berger of California of PA as the team's General Managers. Craig Bioni of RMU D-III along with Dave Layman of UPJ and Jan Battista of CUP-I will serve as the coaching staff.
If you are an academically eligible player participating in CHE or CHA while an ACHA D-III member team, please contact your Head Coach immediately and let them know you are interested in being part of the All-Star Challenge. Below are details for the event...
General Information:
Purpose: This All Star Challenge tournament is sponsored by the ACHA Division-III and will serve as the primary tryout/evaluation for the ACHA Division-III select team which will compete in Europe in Winter 2010.
Eligibility: Must be playing for a CHE/CHA/ACHA Division-III member team next season (Fall 2010) and are academically eligible the current semester (Winter/Spring 2010).
Dates: March 26th – March 28th (4 games guaranteed).
Location: Ice Line Arena; West Chester, PA
Cost: Estimated cost for the select team going to Europe $1,500-$2,000. Fundraising may be available but that is not guaranteed.
Team/Player Information:
Purpose: Select a group of 22-24 players to compete in the ACHA D-III All Star Challenge. To expose our league’s best players to evaluators of the ACHA to potentially have them placed on the ACHA Select Team Roster.
Teams Eligible: CHE – California University of Pennsylvania-I, Fredonia State University-I, Penn State Altoona, Penn State Behrend, Robert Morris University D-III, Saint Vincent College, University of Pittsburgh – Johnstown. CHA – Canisius College, CCAC, St. John Fisher College, University of Pittsburgh – Greensburg.
Roster: Same eligibility requirements as above. Final Roster will meet league approval. Coaches are looking to play an up tempo style of play, they want a player who plays both ends of the ice, and a team player.
Cost: Approximately $100-$150 to play on this team cost includes hotel (4 players to a room and practice ice time). Does not include travel to West Chester, PA and meals.
Practice: Coaches are looking at one practice prior to the tournament.
Players: We are asking that players be submitted through their head coaches via email to roth_j@calu.edu by Friday, Feb. 5 at 12pm.
