We regret to inform everyone that Fairfield University decided at the last minute to drop out of the CHE vs. Empire Showdown this weekend at Center Ice Arena. Fairfield has cited financial issues have caused them to drop out. By doing so, they have forced Pitt-Johnstown out of the tournament due to the lack of time to find a suitable replacement. In light of Fairfield's actions, the situation has been handed over to the ACHA to investigate. In the meantime, an apology to CHE and in particular the UPJ ice hockey team is in order. My thanks to the understanding of Dave Layman, Heasd Coach for UPJ who is understandably upset by the turn of events, yet supportive of the remaining teams in the Showdown who all have pre set and paid travel expenses for a two game tournament. My apologies to the players, parents and friends of UPJ hockey who were set to have a banquet following game one. These are the people who support D-III hockey. Sincerely, Chuck Kuzniewski CHE Commissioner
